👕 How to Get Stains Out of Your Jeans or Shirt – The Right Way
Share
Whether it's your favorite pair of jeans or a crisp white shirt, stains can show up when you least expect them — and stick around longer than you'd like. But don't panic! With the right approach and a little know-how, you can remove most common stains at home. Here’s how to deal with them like a pro.
🧼 Step 1: Act Fast
The sooner you treat a stain, the better your chances of removing it completely. Once it sets, it can be much harder to lift.
Do this immediately:
Blot (don’t rub) the stain with a clean cloth or paper towel.
Keep the stained area moist, especially if you can’t wash it right away.
☕ Common Stains & How to Remove Them
1. Coffee or Tea Stains
Rinse the fabric under cold water from the back of the stain.
Mix a solution of white vinegar + dish soap + cold water.
Apply it to the stain, gently blot, then wash as usual.
2. Oil or Grease Stains (from food or cooking)
Sprinkle baking soda or cornstarch on the stain to absorb oil.
Let it sit for 10–15 minutes, then brush off.
Add a drop of dish soap (like Dawn) directly to the stain, rub gently, then wash.
3. Ink Stains
Dab (don’t soak) with rubbing alcohol using a cotton ball.
Let it sit for 5 minutes, then blot with a clean cloth.
Rinse and wash with cold water.
4. Sweat or Yellow Deodorant Marks
Mix baking soda + lemon juice into a paste.
Rub onto the stain and let sit for 30 minutes before washing.
5. Grass Stains
Pretreat with white vinegar or a dab of laundry detergent.
Scrub lightly with a toothbrush.
Rinse and launder with cold water.
⚠️ What Not to Do
Don’t use hot water on unknown stains — it can set them.
Don’t rub harshly — it may spread or damage the fabric.
Avoid mixing chemicals like bleach and vinegar.
